KONG Dental Rope Dog Medium Rope not so durable

KONG Dental with Rope Dog Toy, Medium, Red
  • Bone-shaped toy with hollow center to hold treats
  • Made in the USA of nontoxic, extremely durable natural rubber
  • Recommended for dogs 15-35 pounds; measures 4-3/4 inches long
  • Use with KONG Easy Treat
  • Cleans teeth and gums as dogs chew
  • rope chewed off in no time WE have several Kong toys for our dog. He chewed the rope off this one right away. He still plays with the rubber part a year later. Just okay as dog toys go.
Strong durable worth the price I'm the proud owner of two Australian Shepherds one of which LOVES to chew. She can reduce a Nylabone to razoredged confetti in minutes I've tried about all there is in the way of dog toys and the Kong brand seems to produce the only rubberized chewys that live up to the advertised toughness. She did get one of the knots undone the first day but I retied it and the ropebone is still being used everyday in dogondog tugofwar and as a thing to be endlessly gnawed upon.
Not that great This toy bought for my 17 month old chew through everything English Springer Spaniel. She liked chewing on the rope until I had strings all over my carpet which by the way are hard to see and get wound around the vacuum wheels. Within about 2 days one rope was chewed through and then she lost interest. I eventually cut away both ropes but she still had no interest in the rubber KONG section totally wasted money on my dog. Maybe other dogs will like these but they smell like rubber and that could be the putoff for my dog. I do not recommend.
My puppy's new favorite toy! I bought this in the medium size for my two toy size dogs a few weeks ago. My new pomeranian puppy loves carrying it around even though it weighs more than him and he loves just chewing on it. It hasn't frayed and I haven't seen any strings around the apartment. I keep watching just incase due to the other reviewers.
Another great Kong product The Dental Kong with a rope is a great toy for dogs who like to chase things and chew on them. And that includes most dogs. This toy sort of simulates say a small pray animal that dogs normally would chase. I throw it and my dog chases after it. When she gets it she shakes it around vigorously like a dog would do if it caught say a rabbit and then chews on it. The ropes are easily chewed threw by heavy chewers in a short period of time but the rope is made of cotton so there is no danger if the dog ingests small pieces of the rope. And the Kong Company sells replacement ropes with instructions for tying the special knots at each end for a nominal charge and they don't charge anything for shipping them. Don't be tempted to use replacement ropes made of anything but cotton nylon or polypropylene for example from other sources as this material will harm your dog if ingested.I would give this dog toy five stars if the ropes lasted longer but that is the only shortcoming in this terrific toy and I really don't see how the toy could have the appeal it does for my dog without the rope.
Rope not so durable If you have a heavy chewer this is not the toy to get. Unfortunately within a day my 45lb.
Toy fell off almost immediately This product did not hold up within one day of play with my new puppy. The red rubber toy came off almost immediately and is now missing somewhere in the house.
Fun fun fun..for the dogs at least We bought this small kong with rope for our 3 1/2 mo. old Welsh Corgi puppy who is having a rough time teething. It's great fun for him! He swings the rope around flying around the room and when he's tired he chews on the kong portion. So far it's holding up well. The rope is not shredding but he's also young with small teeth. My 2yearold Corgi has taken a liking to it once more flying through the house pretending to be an acrobator maybe she's not pretendingand having a great time.
Still a Kong We have two medium sized dogs who love to play tugofwar and they both loved it. The rope lasted longer than most most dog toy ropes last at the most 3 days and this rope lasted over three weeks. One dog finally chewed through the knot at one end. Now that the rope is gone the dogs still have a Kong that they chew on and play fetch with. As with our prior experience with Kongs they are virtually indestructible we have another that has lasted years and are insidefriendly e.g the Kongs don't break household decor when thrown or leave marks on floors. BONUS TIP Once the rope is gone fill the Kong with peanut butter and freeze it. When you give the filled frozen Kong to your dog they will be in for *hours* of entertainment.
nice sturdy tug toy This is exactly what I expected it to be a nice sturdy tug toy. I got it for my dogs to play with together. They play with it for a while if I initiate the play. They prefer the Kong Tugga Wubba because it squeaks.I can't say that I've noticed any impact in the dental cleaning arena but I'm sure it can't hurt.

Bone-shaped toy with hollow center to hold treats.Made in the USA of nontoxic, extremely durable natural rubber.Recommended for dogs 15-35 pounds; measures 4-3/4 inches long.Use with KONG Easy Treat.Cleans teeth and gums as dogs chew. Dental health is just as important for pets as it is for people, but it's a rare dog that likes getting his teeth brushed. This fun, versatile chew combines the functions of a treat dispenser, toothbrush, and classic fetch toy, all in one. Made from the same super-tough, puncture-resistant natural rubber as classic Kongs, its patented grooved design "squeegees" teeth and gums clean as dogs chew, helping prevent plaque and tartar buildup (not to mention bad breath). Use Kong Breath Paste inside the grooves to motivate your dog to chew and freshen his breath at the same time. Shaped like a bone, Kong dental toys have a hollow interior just made for stuffing with treats or biscuits. Extracting the contents is work that can keep dogs happy and busy for hours, helping prevent boredom, separation anxiety, and related behavior problems like barking, digging, or chewing shoes. The medium size dental toy comes with a special, diamond-braid cotton floss rope that not only adds to chasing and fetching fun, but also cleans food debris that accumulates between teeth. Measuring 5 inches long, this toy is intended for dogs weighing between 20 and 35 pounds, including beagles, whippets, corgis, and cocker spaniels.
